Community Involvement

Having operated in the same facility in Dexter, MO for over 35 years, we have become deeply rooted in our community. Watching our employees and their families grow, we know the need to support the “home team.

We are involved in several ongoing community efforts, from hospitals, schools and YMCA to baseball team sponsorships. We have been members of the Dexter Chamber of Commerce since 1974, and hold memberships in Chapter 246 of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. We are also a member of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) since 1996.

Since 1986, Specialty Engineering has been a corporate sponsor of the Dexter Bearcat Booster Club, sponsoring the high school basketball, baseball and football teams through direct donations and KDEX radio.

We also sponsor the 5th and 6th grade little league football team – the “Mean Green” – through Dexter Middle School.

Since we want to encourage growth at an early age for kids, we have sponsored a book to be distributed throughout the county’s schools every year: “Eight Keys to a Better Me.” The book is given to every third grade student in the Dexter, Bloomfield and Richland elementary schools each year and is funded by Specialty Engineering.
After many years of dedication to his “first things first,” i.e., family, church, academics and business, our president made it clear to family, employees and even friends that they were also involved when he became a Rotary International member in 2006. All have responded well, and Dexter Rotary projects have been much more successful because of these willing helpers. Rotarians welcome all help as they attempt to make their motto “Service Above Self” a reality for everyone.
Since the incorporation of Specialty Engineering Corporation in 1973, that youth baseball throughout Southeast Missouri and beyond. We have sponsored many teams from age 5 through 19 in the local parks & recreation program, Babe Ruth baseball program and individually organized traveling “prospect” leagues. Our management employees have logged countless hours managing and coaching these youngsters. Scads of trophies and photos fill our offices, and these memories are ours to keep. We strongly belie
Specialty Engineering also has a long history of support for the local Boy Scout troop (200) as well as the national program. Since 1974, we have donated annually via sponsor fees and special fundraising projects. We have also supported the Salvation Army for many years. They are among our preferred recipients.
Specialty Engineering nailed it. We had a need for a custom progressive die, and they did it perfectly the first time, and delivered quick. They definitely know their stuff, and we recommend them to anyone needing a tough job done right.

I have used Specialty Engineering several times through the years when looking for a special die or tooling. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to die making and were willing to work with me to find the most proficient and cost effective tooling I could get. I would not hesitate to call upon them again should the need arise.
